Vincent Kompany evaluates Dara O’Shea recent displays for Burnley following summer move from West Brom

Vincent Kompany has expressed satisfaction with the consistent performances demonstrated by Burnley’s Dara O’Shea in recent months.

The 24-year-old has been a regular presence in the Burnley side throughout the current season, featuring in 23 appearances since his transfer from West Brom in the summer. While the center-back’s performances were somewhat varied in the initial stages, they mirrored the overall fluctuating form of the team.

For a considerable period now, the Irishman has emerged as one of the most reliable and consistent performers in Vincent Kompany’s team, regardless of his defensive partner at the heart of Burnley’s defense. Kompany acknowledges O’Shea’s strong contributions, highlighting his consistent performances.

“Beyond the expected improvement in recent games, I see him as one of the players who is developing in terms of character and leadership as well. These individuals, situated in that intermediate phase between youth and experience, are taking significant steps forward,” remarked Vincent Kompany.

“As more games keep coming, and with an increased awareness of their role, players like him become more and more valuable through the way they communicate with their teammates,” explained Vincent Kompany.

Dara O’Shea has been a significant presence for Burnley, accumulating 1,478 minutes of playing time this season, placing him among the top players in terms of minutes played. In defensive statistics, O’Shea stands out with an average of one interception per game, ranking second in the squad behind team captain Josh Brownhill. Additionally, he leads in clearances with an average of 4.8 per game, surpassing teammates Jordan Beyer and Charlie Taylor. Beyer holds the top position for blocks, with O’Shea following closely.
