The 21-year-old, who has already scored 17 goals this season, is eager to advance to the Championship level after his return from Iraq’s international duty.

In his first interview with TownTV, Ali stated, “I’ve been speaking to the Manager and he has laid out what the pathway might be for me and what he expects from me.”

It excites me since I’m a very ambitious person when a manager that excellent and a large club like Ipswich have those kinds of chats with you.

I’m a huge football fan and watch every game on television. I’ve watched Ipswich play a little amount, and they always play high-pressure, aggressive, and visually appealing football.

“That’s what people currently associate with Ipswich, and it really fits my personality because I’m strong, quick, and like starting people off.” I think my current situation at Ipswich fits me rather well.

“Any young forward would want to be involved in it; it’s exciting, attacking football.”

“I set myself a target of scoring 20 goals at the start of the season and I’m getting close to that now,” Ali remarked, looking back on his time at Wimbledon, where he scored 27 goals in 48 games after joining the Dons in January 2023.

“I know it’s a step up to the Championship where players are better and sharper, but I’m confident in my ability, eager to learn, and excited to join the squad. I am hungry to score goals.”

I want to work as hard as I can to contribute positively to the team and demonstrate my ability to make an effect because I need to strike a mix between humility and confidence.

“Whilst I am incredibly grateful to Wimbledon, it’s difficult to ignore a club the size of Ipswich when they come calling. I’m really connected to the workers and the manager, who has done a lot for me, so leaving is difficult and feels like leaving my family.”
