Leeds United are very much in the market for new defenders before the end of the window.
The clock is ticking against the Whites as they have not yet made their initial move into the market and have less than 72 hours to finalize any outstanding transfer transaction.
Despite the fact that full-backs are currently their first focus after Djed Spence and Luke Ayling left earlier this month, it seems that they are now keeping an eye on another central defender.
Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Leeds is interested in signing Joe Worrall, a center-back for Nottingham Forest, although Sheffield United will once again be a rival.
Worrall, who is 27 years old and has not been as successful at the City Ground this season, is rumored to cost around £6 million.
Leeds keen on £6m Worrall
Ben Godfrey, another center defender, has also been linked to Leeds this month, suggesting that Charlie Cresswell’s departure is still a possibility.
Due to his attitude issues, Daniel Farke left Cresswell out of several matchday squads, and the Whites have rejected multiple approaches for him this month. It had been certain that Cresswell would depart.
Nevertheless, Cresswell made a surprise return as an unutilized replacement for the FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle this past weekend, following Farke’s revelation that the two had had some encouraging talks.
Leeds may or may not pursue agreements for both Worrall and Godfrey at this time, even though the latter is significantly more versatile and can play a variety of places throughout the backline. Godfrey also benefits from having been Farke’s employee.
Leeds appears to be very busy in the last few days of the window, so perhaps they can get some business over the finish line.
