Breaking: Aston Villa on the verge of completing two major transfer deals before deadline

The most recent Aston Villa transfer is said to be aimed in signing Australian international goalkeeper Joe Gauci.

Joe Gauci, an Australian goalkeeper, will join Aston Villa before the January transfer window closes on Thursday night. Gauci was previously at Adelaide United. Gauci, 23, is rumored to sign a long-term deal at Villa Park that will last until 2028.

After a brief stint with Melbourne City, Gauci—who was born in Adelaide—came home to join the Reds in 2020. After making 30 appearances for United in the previous season, he was named to the A-League Team of the Season.

The 6ft 4in stopper, also known as the “Great Wall of Gauci,” has gained recognition on a global scale. Gauci made his Socceroos debut in a friendly against Ecuador in March of last year, and he also played in a 2-0 victory over Bahrain earlier this month to prepare for Australia’s Asian Games campaign.

Despite only having 11 league appearances this season, Gauci has drawn the attention of Villa, who have been looking for additional backup for Emiliano Martinez, their first choice keeper. Robin Olsen is another resource that Unai Emery can utilize when it comes to keeping. A quiet transfer window has been controlled by Villa, who are also eager to sign Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers and hope to finalize a deal before the deadline.

Kosta Nedeljkovic, a defender, has joined them on a long-term contract from Red Star Belgrade. However, he will play out the remainder of this season in Serbia before joining up with his new colleagues in the summer. Throughout the season, they have also permitted goalkeepers Viljami Sinisalo and Filip Marschall to leave on loan to EFL teams.
