Jon McCracken, the backup goalie for Norwich City, has returned on loan to Dundee, a team in the Scottish Premiership.
The 23-year-old began the season on loan outside of Canada, but Paul Clements, the new keeper coach, wanted to give the young player a look, so he called him back after Tim Krul left for Luton.
After that, McCracken made 13 appearances while on loan at League Two Accrington. However, an injury before Christmas ended that last-minute transfer.
In the summer, the contract of the former Hamilton young prospect at Carrow Road will expire.
“It’s nice to be back at the club and see everyone I know again,” he remarked. “I was excited to return to the club after speaking with the management when I first received the call about coming back. I had a terrific time playing for Dundee; on opening day of the season, I had a home game against Motherwell, and I really enjoyed it.
“I know they will follow us home and away when I am here again, so I am looking forward to seeing the fans again.”
Under Tony Doherty, Dundee has made a strong comeback to the Scottish premier league. Ahead of their matchup with Hearts at Dens Park this weekend, they are currently sixth in the standings.
Speaking on his team’s official website, Doherty said, “I’m thrilled to have Jon back at the club; he made a big impression on everybody at the start of the season.” “He kept two clean sheets for us while playing four games for us—three in the League Cup and one in the League.
He is highly regarded by the boys in the locker room, with exceptional goalkeeping skills, and is sure to blend in seamlessly. For the latter portion of the season, I want to have fierce competition at every position. Jon’s arrival offers us a true level of competitiveness among goalkeepers, which is vital to me.
City has several young goalkeepers on their roster. Vicente Reyes is presently participating in a pre-Olympic qualifying event with Chile’s Under-23 team.
Caleb Ansen was benched for the first team during Sunday’s FA Cup fourth round match against Liverpool, while Archie Mair is on loan at Morecambe.
On Saturday, Dan Barden played a part in the development team’s 4-2 Premier League 2 loss at Old Trafford.
