NBA fans have been hearing for weeks that the Lakers will make some significant trades before the trade deadline.
But now that the deadline is just a few days away, Jovan Buha of The Athletic claims that the team is more likely to make “marginal or zero moves.” Buha also stated that Austin Reaves is still “off the table barring a clear-cut All-Star shockingly becoming available.”
Reaves is coveted by a number of clubs, thus the Lakers may not have as much options by this It’s not surprising that Reaves is being pursued by many teams, and it’s also not surprising that the Lakers want to hang onto him.
However, this can prove to be a significant obstacle for any kind of bundle.
This is especially true for the Atlanta Hawks, who are the team that the Lakers are undoubtedly hoping to sign, Dejounte Murray.
The Hawks would much rather see Reaves play alongside Trae Young than settle for D’Angelo Russell and draft picks.
However, the Lakers have very little options when it comes to negotiating with the Hawks or any other team because they are unwilling to give up on Reaves.
According to recent rumors, LeBron James wants the executive office of his team to take a significant step this week, but they may not be able to do so without accepting that Reaves will not be returning.
