With a victory over Aberdeen this evening, Philippe Clement’s Rangers team might take the lead in the Scottish Premiership for the first time under the Belgian’s rule as their title challenge picks up steam at the perfect moment.

During the January transfer window, the Belgian manager signed Fabio Silva, Mohamed Diomande, and Óscar Cortés. However, rumors circulated that Clement had hoped to sign another striker in order to challenge Silva and regular number nine Cyriel Dessers in the final days of the window.

Hearts goal scorer Lawrence Shankland was heavily linked to Rangers during the winter transfer window, but no deal materialized, and the Scotland international is still at Tynecastle despite reports of interest from other clubs.
The Gers have been tipped to join the free agent market in order to sign a forward, even if the window is closing quickly. The team is reportedly looking into the potential of bringing in 34-year-old striker Dwight Gayle, and it has already chosen one striker.

After a challenging 18 months at the bet365 Stadium, the footballer left Stoke City on deadline day after reaching a mutual agreement to end his contract. As a free agent, he is now free to negotiate with other teams. After agreeing to a two-and-a-half-year contract in the summer of 2022, Gayle scored just three goals in 35 games during the previous campaign. After falling out of favor this season, the former Newcastle United player was given permission to go by Steven Schumacher, the new head coach.

In an attempt to entice Gayle from English Championship team Stoke, Rangers are reportedly also interested in signing Gayle’s old teammate Tyrese Campbell in the summer. This information comes from a recent report from Football Insider. The striker’s condition is reportedly something the Gers are “keeping close tabs” on.
