On transfer deadline day in the summer, Andy Irving was acquired by Premier League team West Ham from SK Austria Klagenfurt, and he was promptly loaned back to the Austrian team.

The 23-year-old midfielder linked up with the East London team through SK Austria Klagenfurt, joining the Hammers as a result.

What will happen to the former Hearts player when his loan agreement with the Austrian team expires at the end of the current campaign?

Although Irving has made it quite obvious where he wants to play football next season, others will also have a say in the matter. Although David Moyes has an abundance of excellent central midfield alternatives at his disposal, the 23-year-old appears to be holding out hope for a future at the London Stadium.

23-year-old says his dream is to play for West Ham in the Premier League

Irving has been talking about his SK Austria Klagenfurt season thus far.

And the Scot revealed his ambition to play football in the Premier League with the Hammers at some point, as LAOLA1 reported:

“The Premier League is the greatest league in the world.” When I was six or seven years old, I used to follow it. I still have a lot to learn and develop as a person. Then perhaps I could realize my dream.

Of course Irving can dream of being a Premier League player. That does not imply, however, that it is a feasible objective for him.

Though it goes without saying that I’d be pleased to be proven incorrect, I just don’t think the Scotsman will be able to perform at the standards needed to play for West Ham in the Premier League.

I’m hoping Irving succeeds in his future endeavors, but I just don’t see him ever appearing in the iconic Claret and Blue strip.
