Tee Higgins, a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals who will be a free agency this year, stated that he would like to play in Tennessee in 2024.
Over the previous five seasons, offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and head coach Zac Taylor of Cincinnati have assembled one of the top attacks in the league.
Brian Callahan, the Cincinnati Bengals’ coordinator from 2019 to 2023, is the new coach of the Tennessee Titans. During Tee Higgins’s career with the Bengals, Callahan was the offensive coordinator.
Higgins discussed what it means to him that the Bengals want him back with the team in an interview with Bleacher Report.
“It has great significance,”
While talking about the quarterback with a receiver who expressed a desire to return even if he were to face free agency this year, Higgins revealed to Bleacher Report.
In the same exchange, Chase clarified that Higgins was in need of money. Chase said he would have to wait for other receivers to establish the market, despite his lighthearted declaration that he intended to join this season.
“Who knows what will happen in the end?”
Speaking about the potential, the LSU player told Bleacher Report.
Higgins was selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, which completely changed the Bengals’ roster. In his debut season with the Bengals, Higgins passed for over 900 yards; it was the only occasion in 16 games that he failed to pass for a thousand yards.
Throughout his four-year career, Higgins recorded 3,684 receiving yards and 24 receptions.
Higgins will play a significant part for the Bengals whether the team concentrates on Chase or if Chase is injured.
With 74.8% of the regular season games played in his debut year, he set a record for the Bengals’ greatest percentage in a single season.
Higgins will have a significant effect on NFL offenses whether he chooses to stay with the Tigers or go elsewhere.
He was an excellent receiver for several NFL teams because of his powerful hands and ability to leap the ball.
Over the past few years, the Cincinnati Bengals have acquired a ton of talent, which has spoilt them.
Tee Higgins is the best player, but Ja’Marr Chase is the clear leader.
The 25-year-old wide receiver, who was chosen in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, is the second-best outfield player in the league with 257 receptions for 3,684 yards and 24 touchdowns.
But his Cincinnati season is done, he’s a free agent, and he’s tied now.
In an interview with ESPN during Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Higgins talked about how disappointed he was to see former coordinator Brian Callahan leave Cincinnati.
“He was a big help to me,”
About Callahan, Higgins stated. In addition to being one of the top coaches in the league, he’s a terrific guy.
Inquiries concerning Higgins’ thoughts on bringing Callahan to Tennessee as a free agent this season were also directed at the Tennessee native.
“It would be beneficial,”
stated Higgins.
“It would be great to play for a coach I’ve already worked with and go back home to my family.”
Higgins’ departure without a contract is not good for Cincinnati.
The wide receiver might be re-signed to a long-term contract, although earlier rumors indicated that the parties have not yet come to a consensus.
Higgins might be let go after a full season, or they could trade him for a fair price and have time to work out an extension.
The Bengals quarterback is anticipated to be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, but they must observe certain contractual responsibilities.
For instance, the Bengals plan to hire wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase the next season, and he is eligible for an extension this year.
Cincinnati would have to pay more than $50 million a year to keep Chase and Higgins, which would take away from potential at other spots on the squad.
“This year will see what happens,”
stated in January by Bengals general manager Duke Tobin.
“I desire Tee Higgins’ return.” Tee Higgins’ return would be appreciated by all members of our team. Once more, there is only one pie, and we will have to decide how big a slice it takes and what else we are unable to accomplish as a result.
