Anthony Gordon makes shocking return to Newcastle United’s XI to face Nottingham Forest

Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon has recovered to face Nottingham Forest.

Less than a week after leaving St James’ Park on crutches, Anthony Gordon was included in the starting lineup for Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The winger for Newcastle United suited up in Eddie Howe’s three-pronged attack against Forest with Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson. Gordon was cleared to start in the Premier League this week despite not having trained this week.

In addition, Eddie Howe started Dan Burn at left back following a week-long fan dispute over Tino Livramento and the Blyth boy for the starting spot. The 6′ 7″ Geordie was selected to play in the defensive rearguard with Sven Botman, Kieran Trippier, and Fabian Schar.

Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes, and Lewis Miley accompanied the Magpies to his engine room. Jamaal Lascelles, the club captain, was picked as a replacement against his previous club, which created another surprise on the bench.
