Birmingham City defender Siobhan Wilson has signed a new contract with the club which will run until summer 2025.
The Blues sent out an official club press release to WSL Full-Time this evening with the news.
Being equally as good on offense as she is on defense makes Wilson one of the most entertaining full-backs competing in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Wilson joined the Blues from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2022, and during the previous season’s Barclays Women’s Championship, she made 17 appearances for the team and scored two goals.
Wilson has been out of action for the past nine months due to an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, but she is getting closer to being fully recovered, so she plans to finish the season on the field.
Following the extension of her contract with Birmingham City, Wilson declared, “I am ecstatic to be fair.” I’m just thankful that the Club still has faith in me despite everything I’ve been through over the last nine months.
“The entire process of dealing with an ACL injury was probably the most mentally taxing thing I’ve ever had to deal with.” I have witnessed situations where players have this injury around the conclusion of their contract and are left with nothing, so I am really appreciative that the Club is acknowledging everything I’ve gone through and rewarding me with a new agreement.
Wilson intends to assist Birmingham City in pursuing a comeback once he is well.
