Breaking News: Arsenal’s title challenge is ridiculous, and it’s obvious why they’ll finish behind Liverpool.

The great John Barnes of Liverpool expressed his opinions about the Premier League title fight and expressed doubt about Arsenal’s chances.

The former player for the Reds thinks Mikel Arteta’s team had a better chance of winning the championship last year when they were ahead of Manchester City until faltering in April.

Along with Liverpool and Manchester City, Arsenal is once again vying for Premier League title. After a difficult Christmas break, they rebounded by being undefeated in 2024.

The Gunners won their away game against Burnley on Saturday afternoon, 5-0. They have scored three goals or more in each of their last three games, including their crucial 3-1 triumph against the Reds at the Emirates two weeks ago.

Barnes told Premier League Productions that he was not confident the north London team had what it took to challenge City and Liverpool all the way, saying, “City are the favorites, I make Liverpool the second favourites.” Although I have stated since the Premier League began that teams like Aston Villa and Tottenham [appeared like contenders] six weeks ago, it is in March and April that you really start to look at who the runners and riders are. Arsenal was in a better position last year.

When February and March are almost over, all that matters is getting a result, and Man City is unbeatable and unstoppable in that regard. I consider Liverpool to be the closest rivals since, in some games, they haven’t performed well but still managed to win.

As much as Arsenal is performing well right now, they still need to play well in order to win. If they don’t play well, they might not win. I continue to believe that Man City and Liverpool will win.

“Today’s Liverpool victory will increase pressure.” That pressure will be handled by Man City. Liverpool is such a fantastic team that City won’t worry if they are losing ground to them. Arsenal will be impacted by Liverpool’s opening game, but not Man City.”

Ultimately, Manchester City was the team that made a mistake in this weekend’s title match. At home against Chelsea, Pep Guardiola’s team was forced to come from behind after Raheem Sterling’s opening goal in an unexpected 1-1 draw. At the moment, Liverpool leads Arsenal by two points and is four ahead of City, who still have a game to play.
