Following the fatal mass shooting during the Kansas City Chiefs parade commemorating the team’s Super Bowl victory last week, two adults have been charged with murder.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker stated on Tuesday that Dominic M. Miller of Kansas City, Missouri, and Lyndell Mays of Rayton, Missouri, had been charged with two charges of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in addition to second-degree murder.

Miller is eighteen or nineteen years old, the local KMBC reports. May 23rd. A $1 million bond is being held for each of the two men.

According to The Associated Press, their arrests occured days after authorities declared that two juveniles were charged with gun-related offenses and resisting arrest in connection with the incident. In addition to killing Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two and radio DJ for KKFI 90.1 FM in the area, the incident left 22 other people injured. Of the 22 individuals shot, over half were younger than 16 years old.

According to KMBC, the two adolescents might be tried as adults given the circumstances.

It’s unclear at this time if any of the accused have hired lawyers or accepted plea deals.

According to a news release announcing the accusations, Baker stated that “a verbal altercation occurred and gunfire broke out with no regard for thousands of other individuals in the area” on Wednesday of last week.
