With the 22nd pick, what will the Eagles do? Some reflections by Daniel Jeremiah.
Questions that weren’t about the Eagles but could be applied to them
Q. At the top, you named the offensive tackles. Tenth question: Jets-related. In your opinion, how do the top few tackles differ from each other, and who do you believe is their best option at 10?
DANIEL JEREMIAH: Well, each flavor is distinct. They’re all incredibly gifted. JC Latham (Alabama), Olu Fashanu (Penn State), Taliese Fuaga (Oregon State), and Joe Alt (Notre Dame) are actually the ones you’re talking about when you look at that elite group of guys. Whichever order you have them in, I believe there is a general consensus that those are the best four players.
Since Alt seems to be the cleanest of the group, I doubt he will be present. He’s enormous. He is elongated. He simply keeps improving. He escapes injury. His athleticism isn’t the most impressive. While he is not a particularly skilled player, he can move people on the run and doesn’t give up easily. He also plays with exceptional awareness. I believe he will be leaving.
After that, you begin to consider the Jets’ options. You have the enormous Fashanu from Penn State. His length and frame are perfect. This year’s Ohio State game is essentially the one to which most will look to explain his incident, as his eyes were somewhat misaligned. He gave away his chest, was pushed around a little, and got bullied, but overall, I believe his tape is really good. He would be ready to go. He can play both left and right, in my opinion.
I think Fuaga is an extremely clean player. He has engaged in right-side play. Really, I don’t understand why you would want to relocate him. He is, in my opinion, a plug-and-play right tackle. If necessary, he could play guard, but he was essentially reliable. swift steps. incredibly dynamic and explosive when he gets into guys. He’s got a bad attitude. plays in a temperamental manner. That seems like just plug and play to me. You take off, he has a house at right tackle. He’s ranked as my second favorite lineman.
Then, Alabama’s JC Latham was a highly sought-after recruit. His body is filled to the brim. He is enormous. more than 330 pounds. Especially in the run game, he possesses torque and power. He is able to anchor all day. Compared to the other guys, he experienced more problems with a few of the games, stunts, and twists they observed.
I felt that he was a little bit late with his eyes, and it caused him some minor difficulties. For me, he would be the fourth guy in that mixture. Alt is gone, in my opinion. Probably gone now is Fashanu. Because of this, I believe that choice could come down to Fuaga vs. Latham.
