In an effort to strengthen their roster for 2024, the Texans have taken another action.
Dieter Eiselen, an offensive lineman, has signed a two-year contract worth $2.095 million with the Texans, according to KPRC reports. The deal includes a $10,000 signing bonus and non-guaranteed base salaries of $985,000 and $1.1 million.
Eiselen, a Yale undrafted free agent who was originally from South Africa, signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Bears. With a formidable stature of 6 feet 4 inches and 320 pounds, Eiselen has had a stellar collegiate career, being selected for both the All-Ivy League and All-American teams.
He was moved up from the practice squad to the active roster in November, and after making his debut in 10 games the previous season, he now has 24 career appearances.
After being cut by the Bears in August of last year, Eiselen joined the Texans’ practice squad and was promoted to the starting lineup in November.
He had 10 games of contribution for the Texans during the regular season. Eiselen had previously played in 14 games with the Bears over the course of the previous three seasons when he joined the Texans.
The Texans have further solidified their roster for the 2017 season with the signings of Eiselen, pass rusher Marcus Haynes, and cornerback D’Angelo Ross.
