The Philadelphia Eagles’ terrible second-half collapse brought an end to their aspirations of winning the Super Bowl. The Eagles may recruit a new running partner for Jalen Hurts as they attempt to get back to their winning ways.
According to betonline.ag, the Eagles have emerged as the favorites (+500) to sign running back Tony Pollard if he were to depart the Dallas Cowboys. The Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans have the same +700 odds as the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. At +1000, the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans complete the top six.
Pollard was given the chance to take the lead in the Cowboys’ backfield after Ezekiel Elliot signed with the New England Patriots. In addition to gaining 311 yards through the air, he managed to gain 1,005 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Despite breaking 1,000 yards, his stats are comparable to those of Pollard’s 2022 campaign. He had 16 fewer receptions and 59 fewer touches, yet his total nearly matched that of 2023.
In 2023, D’Andre Swift, who rushed for 1,049 yards and five touchdowns, was the Eagles’ mainstay. But he will eventually become a free agent. Both racers recorded comparable results, so it might fit in well in Philadelphia. The Eagles have also been known to deploy guys like Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell as running backs via committee on occasion. Pollard might be able to guide a flexible rushing attack.
As long as he is behind center, Philadelphia’s lead rusher will always be quarterback Jalen Hurts. However, Tony Pollard’s signing would steal a playmaker from the Cowboys and offer the Eagles another one to work with.
