As his team’s Spring Training games get underway, pitcher Michael Kopech of the Chicago White Sox is in high spirits. Kopech reports that he is delivering the ball at his typical speed and that his throwing arm feels strong.
“Once more, I’ve witnessed the ball kind of leap out of my grasp.According to MLB.com, Kopech stated, “I see that gear again right now. There’s another gear you can see in yourself.” “It feels like I can move explosively and with some fluidity.”
The pitcher had struggled with injuries in the previous few seasons. In 2023, he started a career-high 27 games, but his earned run average at the end of the campaign was 5.43. Kopech suffered setbacks in each of his appearances, winning just five of the 12 games he played in the season. Despite recording a career-high 134 strikeouts, he still needs to perform even better for the team in 2024. The White Sox had a terrible season in 2023, going 61-101 at the end of play.
In order to raise their win total this season, the White Sox are anticipating great things from their pitching. The organization anticipates that Kopech and Dylan Cease will pitch a lot of innings. Ethan Katz, the pitching coach for the White Sox, stated that Kopech has been throwing the ball as well as he’s seen in quite some time.
“He’s been outstanding. Ball is in a wonderful place right now because he is hitting the strike zone and coming out hot, according to Katz, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
The Chicago Cubs defeated the White Sox 8-1 on Friday to kick off spring training games. The team’s next game is on Saturday at 3:05 Eastern against the Seattle Mariners.
