Paige Bueckers of Connecticut made the announcement among her peers on her senior night that she would be staying with the Huskies for another season, but Caitlin Clark of Iowa has not yet made her plans public.

After transferring from Maryland to LSU following the 2021–2022 season, Reese has blossomed as a star for the Tigers. In 2022–2023, she averaged 23.0 points and 15.4 rebounds, and in the NCAA Tournament of 2023, she assisted in leading LSU to its first-ever national championship.

Here’s what’s new with Reese’s choice:.

Will Angel Reese be drafted by the WNBA in 2024?

Reese has not yet declared if she plans to play in the WNBA or return to LSU for her last year of NCAA eligibility.

Although she is expected to be selected in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft, the COVID-19 season has allowed her to remain eligible for one more year in college.

Most publications rank the 21-year-old forward in the top 10, with the Washington Mystics selected at No. 6 by ESPN and Sporting News, and the Sky selected first in the second round (at No. 13) in Yahoo Sports’ mock draft.

When ESPN predicted that Reese would go eighth overall back in September, her coach, Kim Mulkey, claimed that Reese took the prediction personally.

Mulkey stated, “That was an insult to her,” according to Just Women’s Sports. We discussed the issue she needs to address. It inspires her regardless of whether she is chosen over that. When she sees someone challenging her directly or speaking poorly back to her, she becomes more determined. She is an opponent.

Angel Reese’s zero income

Reese is ranked as the top women’s basketball player and the seventh-highest collegiate athlete by On3, with a NIL valuation of $1.7 million.

According to On3, among others, she has agreements with Beats by Dre, Tampax, Reebok, Airbnb, Amazon, PlayStation, and Raising Cane’s.

WNBA pay

The highest compensation for a WNBA player in 2023 was $234,936, while the average was $147,745 per year. According to Her Hoop Stats, the supermaximum in 2024 will be $241,984.

However, the wage scale is substantially lower for rookies. In the first year of their contracts, the top four draft selections in the 2024 WNBA Draft will earn $76,535.

Remember that WNBA pay and NIL revenues are not mutually exclusive. Reese would eventually get a contract with the WNBA, but when she transitioned to the professional ranks, she probably would hang onto a lot of her NIL deals. She might also be able to make money from additional collaborations and endorsements.
