GOOD NEWS: Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Just Confirm They Are IN Talk To Sign Another Experienced Player

Pittsburgh The Pittsburgh Steelers have been connected to numerous names as potential additions, and they have an abundance of alternatives in free agency. However, it might make too much sense for them to pass up the release of one tight end.

The Steelers have already begun to fill some of their slots with former coaches of Arthur Smith’s, who is in charge of the offense. They have hired two of his former assistants from the Atlanta Falcons staff thus far. A seasoned tight end might be added next.

After just one season in Atlanta, veteran Jonnu Smith is being released by the Falcons, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Field Yates noted right away that Smith made sense as a landing location for the Steelers.

It is anticipated that Arthur Smith will maximize his large frame in his play calling by using his tight ends and running backs in his offensive plan. Jonnu Smith may make sense if he’s searching for another tight end who can catch passes.

As a tight end option, he also thinks highly of Smith.

“We have an abundance of weapons, and Jonnu has shown himself in big-time games by making moves. Therefore, choose your poison wisely if you have a lot of faith. Jonnu is one of those players; he’s an excellent catch-and-run player. He’s difficult to tackle. Thank goodness he’s here, Arthur stated last season on Jonnu.

Yate’s reasoning is interrupted only by the question of whether the Steelers intend to increase the responsibilities of Connor Heyward and Darnell Washington. Although Heyward is a receiving option and performs well as a No. 2 behind Pat Freiermuth, Washington is probably only intended to be a blocking tight end.

Still, it’s preferable to have more options. For the majority of the 2023 season, the Steelers carried four tight ends on their roster. Smith, who just finished a career-high season with the Falcons, caught 50 catches for 582 yards and three touchdowns.

Nothing bad can come from adding a seasoned playmaker to their group, and if Arthur and Jonnu click, the Steelers should consider signing him.
