SAD NEWS: Birmingham City Sign Out Sensational Star Player

Birmingham City are allegedly interested in signing Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Aynsley Pears on a permanent basis during the summer window.

Birmingham 'line up' transfer approach for son of Middlesbrough legend

The 25-year-old, who previously worked with Blues boss Tony Mowbray and assistant Mark Venus at Ewood Park, has appeared 16 times for Blackburn in the Championship this season. Pears has surrendered 26 goals and preserved two clean sheets in those outings, with Rovers currently in 16th.

Birmingham are in the market for a goalkeeper as the two current stoppers, John Ruddy and Neil Etheridge, are out of contract in June and neither are expected to renew. It’s reported by The Sun that Pears, the son of Middlesbrough legend Stephen Pears, has been listed as a key target.

Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has also been connected in recent months, but gossip has died down, and the Blues are said to be interested in Brighton & Hove Albion teenager James Beadle, who is now on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

However, Pears is now the most strong link. The Englishman, born in Durham, has made 53 Championship saves this season. He frequently misses his line, enjoys punching the ball, and has quick reactions. However, long passing is a weak aspect.
