Josh Proctor Explains How Ohio State Prepared Him for the NFL
Josh Proctor, a safety for the Ohio State Buckeyes, is aware of the physical demands of playing in the National Football League (NFL). Proctor joined the Buckeyes in 2018 and will play one more season there in 2023. At the NFL Combine, the draft candidate told reporters that his longer-than-usual collegiate experience helped him adjust to the demands of a professional season. “It allowed me to grow up,” Proctor stated. “Had me grow and learn in a variety of facets of life. In all honesty, though, it’s just a fantastic chance to ultimately become a better player and person.”
When Proctor started out, he thought he would only play for Ohio State for three seasons. Proctor was persuaded to stay with the Buckeyes by his desire to finish on a high note following a string of injuries. “My whole thought process coming out of high school was three-and-done,” Proctor stated. And that’s what everyone plans to do after high school. However, you can never predict what will occur.” Over his six years with the Buckeyes, Proctor amassed 112 tackles; his 47 tackles in the previous season was a career high. In 2023, the Oklahoma native also scored a defensive touchdown when, on October 7, against the Maryland Terrapins, he returned an interception 24 yards to the endzone.
In addition to getting him ready for the duration of an NFL season, Proctor expressed how excited he is to start a professional career, something he believes should have happened by now. Because of how long it took him to get into the NFL, Proctor said he thinks people will have doubts about him. He wants to disprove their assumptions. “To be honest, I think there are some doubts about me,” Proctor remarked. I therefore have a grudge against you.
