Pittsburgh Pirates Has Suspended For 8 Games For Using Banned Object

Ke'Bryan Hayes Becomes Face Of Pirates Just 24 Games Into Career

Bryan Reynolds gave the Pirates a 6-4 lead with his first hit of the spring, a two-run home drive to center field, two innings after Hayes leveled the score at four all. After Travis Swaggerty’s 439-foot bomb from last March, his 434-foot homer is the second-longest documented by a Pirates player in spring training.

The bottom of the sixth inning provided enough insurance for the Pirates (1-3).

Jase Bowen delivered a run-scoring single after Seth Beer scored on an infield single. Mike Jarvis and Henry Davis added sacrifice flies later in the inning to increase the Pirates’ advantage to 10-4.

Pittsburgh added two more runs when catching prospect Abrahan Gutierrez slugged a two-run home drive to left center with two outs. Shortly after Gutierrez, another youngster, Jackson Glenn, gave the Pirates back-to-back home runs with a big ball of his own.

Starter Marco Gonzales of the Pirates allowed the Braves (1-3) to score three runs. David Fletcher scored a run off of Gonzales with a base hit, while Sean Murphy collected two RBI singles. Luke Williams’ single to center field in the third inning gave Atlanta a 4-0 advantage.

REMARKABLE OPERATIONS
With their four home runs, Ke’Bryan Hayes, Bryan Reynolds, Abrahan Gutierrez, and Jackson Glenn have collectively driven in nine runs.
