Leeds United squad revealed for Stoke City as Daniel Farke weighs up changes - Leeds Live

Leeds United team news vs Stoke City as Daniel Farke rests youngster and international drops to the bench.

Several of Farke’s reliable starting lineup mainstays, including Illan Meslier, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, Crysencio Summerville, and Georginio Rutter, are still in the starting lineup for tonight’s match. Connor Roberts, a January loan addition, is playing right back, while Archie Gray is now on the bench, suggesting the German coach has partly reorganized his squad.

Sam Byram starts ahead of Junior Firpo at left back despite the Spaniard passing a late fitness test to be included in the squad. After 10 league games this year, Farke’s Leeds have not lost and have only given up three goals. Elland Road will want to keep Leeds on this streak this evening. Recent results and their present form are perhaps partly due to the defense’s consistency.

Jaidon Anthony is absent from the matchday squad this evening for personal reasons, and Jamie Shackleton is not available because he has fulfilled concussion protocols properly. This means that Joe Gelhardt, who was left off the travelling group at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday due to a back spasm last week, will be back on the bench. Leeds and the Reds drew 1-1.

After being sidelined by injury earlier in the season, Dan James is back in the starting lineup. In the attacking line-up, Patrick Bamford, who scored his seventh goal of the year against Huddersfield Town last weekend, starts ahead of Joel Piroe.

Leeds United starting lineup: Bamford, Roberts, Rodon, Ampadu, Byram, Gruev, Kamara, James, Summerville, Georginio, and Meslier
