Eisen continued by saying the organization was sorry to give him a $160 million contract in the previous summer.
Although quarterback Daniel Jones received a four-year contract deal with the New York Giants last summer, it appears the organization is already looking to move on from him.
The Rich Eisen Show’s Rich Eisen stated around the 5:00 mark on Monday that he learned last week at the NFL Scouting Combine that the Giants “are absolutely done with Daniel Jones.” Eisen continued by saying the organization was sorry to give him a $160 million contract in the previous summer.
“Maybe we’ll have to play him this year, but they don’t think that’s the case. “I heard the words ‘buyer’s remorse’ at the combine several times,” Eisen said. “However, what they say in public must be said. Now, I could be completely wrong, and this might be blatantly unjust.
Before sustaining an ACL tear in his right knee during the 2023 season, Jones participated in six games. He led the club to a 1-5 record before sustaining his injury, throwing for 909 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions.
In the 2019 NFL Draft, Jones was chosen by the Giants with the sixth overall choice. Interestingly, New York owns the sixth overall pick in the 2024 draft, and there are a lot of excellent quarterback prospects in this class, including LSU’s Jayden Daniels, USC’s Caleb Williams, and UNC’s Drake Maye.
Although Jones has battled to establish consistency throughout his career, he has showed glimpses of being a dependable starter. If the Giants decide to choose their future signal-caller in the summer in order to start fresh at quarterback, that would make sense.
