Breaking News: New York Giants Just Confirm Departure OF Experienced Star

It seems like running back Saquon Barkley’s tenure with the New York Giants is coming to an end after six successful seasons.

Barkley is expected to become a free agent after the Giants elect not to apply the franchise tag to him for the 2024 campaign, according a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday morning.

Since the Giants selected Barkley with the second overall choice in the 2018 draft, the 27-year-old has been a member of the team. He participated in 14 games with the non-exclusive franchise tag in 2023, rushing for 962 yards and six touchdowns.

Nonetheless, Barkley could still sign a new contract and rejoin the Giants in light of this decision.

Barkley accumulated 5,211 rushing yards and 35 rushing touchdowns across his first six seasons, good for fourth and sixth place in franchise history, respectively. He was named the 2018 Pro Bowl participant and the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. In 2022, he will make another trip to the Pro Bowl.

The Giants will turn their attention to the future while Barkley considers his options in a crowded running back market, as quarterback Daniel Jones’s future in New York seems questionable.
