Texans agree on $49 million deal with star pass rusher Danielle Hunter, AP source says
The Houston Texans have agreed to sign four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Danielle Hunter to a $49 million, two-year contract, according to a person familiar with the situation.
Hunter will receive a guaranteed $48 million, according to the person who spoke on the condition of anonymity, because the contract cannot be made official until the new league year begins Wednesday.
Hunter recorded a career-high 16 1/2 sacks for Minnesota last season. He’s had double-digit sack totals five times in the last eight years.
Hunter replaces Jonathan Greenard, who will join the Vikings. Hunter will face AP Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson on Houston’s defensive line.
Last season, the Texans won the AFC South and advanced to the divisional stage of the playoffs with first-year coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.
