Breaking: A second Texas Longhorn linebacker has confirmed that they will use the transfer portal after four years of eligibility.

Burrell was suspended when it was discovered that he was driving the car that hit T’Vondre Sweat, a former defensive tackle, on Sunday morning, flipping the Ford Bronco over on its side. Burrell left the scene of the accident before the police could get there, and Sweat was arrested and given a DWI charge.

Burrell, a unanimous four-star prospect out of Fort Worth North Crowley in the 2023 recruiting class, was ranked as the No. 29 linebacker and the No. 334 player in the nation by the 247Sports Composite rankings. Burrell selected Texas from 25 offers, rejecting offers from USC, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Burrell did not participate in any games during his redshirt season. With his departure, the Longhorns now have seven inside linebackers on the field.
