Chicago Salvador Perez, the catcher for the Kansas City Royals, is sidelined for the second straight game due to a groin ailment.
Perez can start the game against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night off the bench, according to manager Matt Quatraro.
Quatraro remarked, “He came in early, got worked on, and did his hitting and running.” “In all honesty, we’re just attempting to exercise some prudence. I hope he feels better the following day.
Perez, who turns 34 next month, had a slight groin strain revealed on his MRI on Monday. He sustained an injury on Sunday during Kansas City’s series finale against the New York Mets.
In the first game of the series, Kansas City defeated Chicago 2-0, and Perez took a break. Freddy Fermin went 1 for 4 while starting at catcher.
We would love to have him in there tonight because we’re playing both short and long games. He’s itching to be inside,” Quatraro remarked. “We felt that this was the correct thing to do, but he will be available off the bench.”
In 16 games this season, Perez is batting.339 with four home runs and fifteen RBIs. On Saturday, he launched his 250th career home run.
