Jonathan Kuminga moved from receiving 0 minutes to playing a major role.
This season, Jonathan Kuminga was not too long ago leaking information to the media about his dissatisfaction with Steve Kerr and the Warriors. A few months later, he’s emerged as one of the team’s most important players.
After some time, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr began to give Kuminga more playing time, and the 21-year-old hasn’t let him down. Kerr believes that Jonathan Kuminga has truly “figured it out.”
Kerr stated, “JK has just really figured it out.” “He is now learning when and how to attack now that the game has slowed down for him. I felt he made a few excellent passes this evening. He just has such explosive strength when he gets to the rim. I believe he’s simply seeing the floor more clearly than before.”
Jonathan Kuminga has averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 61/48/78 shooting over the past ten games. Kuminga has been an amazing powerhouse, and Kerr witnessed personally how much better he’s been in the last month.
“This whole past month, I think he’s really broken through,” Kerr stated. “Watching this has just been incredible. He persevered through many ups and downs over the course of 2.5 years of hard effort. His accomplishments have truly amazed me. He’s developing into a truly amazing player.”
If one thing is certain, it’s that the Warriors can’t let Jonathan Kuminga go because he’s developed into the player they needed Andrew Wiggins to be.
