Myers admits crying to Stephanie after Warriors exit announcement

After the 2022–2023 NBA season, Bob Myers announced his resignation as general manager of the Warriors, knowing he would miss one person above all.

Curry Steph.

During his time as general manager, the enduring superstar guided Myers’ Warriors to four NBA titles and, more importantly, was a moral person—a connection that Myers greatly desired.

On the most recent installment of “The Old Man & the Three,” Myers spoke with former NBA player JJ Reddick about why, after choosing to resign from his post last summer, he knew he would miss being around Curry.

“I went to meet him for dinner after I made the decision to leave. When I informed him I was done, I cried,” Myers remembered. “Mainly because I thought I wouldn’t see him every day. Not for the sake of ‘passing up another chance to win a title.’ Not at all. It felt more like, “I’m hurting myself, and this person won’t be in my life as much as they used to.”

“Because he is such a good light and a good person. I have to be a light for him; it’s difficult, and I really miss him. I’m missing that person. He is an actual article. Those who believe he only acts that way for the cameras or that he isn’t a particularly kind guy He is a man; that’s garbage.”

Myers signed on with ESPN as an NBA commentator at the end of June of last year, following his official resignation. He appeared on several network programs, including “NBA Countdown.”

Although he has subsequently covered a few of Curry and the Warriors’ primetime games and is probably in regular contact with his former star player, it’s reasonable to imagine that he doesn’t spend as much time as he would like with his longtime friend.
