Four Children of Denzel Washington: John David, Katia, Malcolm, and Olivia
With his wife Pauletta Washington and their four children, Denzel Washington and the entertainment industry has become a family business.
Following their 1983 wedding, Denzel and Pauletta are delighted parents to four children: 39-year-old John David, 37-year-old Katia, and 33-year-old twins Malcolm and Olivia.
The star of Training Day’s offspring have all followed in his footsteps and chosen careers in entertainment. Denzel has acknowledged that he and his family lead regular lives away from the spotlight, even attributing his humility to his children.
“I am a regular guy who works really hard at what I do. “My analysis belongs to someone else,” he said in a 2009 interview with Reader’s Digest. “I have to get to a kid’s game in a few minutes, and after that, I am taking our daughter to auditions. That is what I do now.”
Denzel has imparted his own wisdom on his children over the years, including teaching them about potential obstacles in life.
He stated, “I try to teach my children there are going to be obstacles,” when he appeared on the Early Show in 2008. “It is possible that someone does not like you because they do not like themselves. But try not to get overwhelmed.”
He has also given credit to Pauletta, his wife, for raising his four children.
“My kids are decent people,” Denzel said in a 2010 interview with The Guardian. “They are giving, modest, and kind, even though they are not flawless. My wife did that.”
