BREAKING NEWS: New Orleans Pelicans head Coach signs divorce with wife due to…in the front of..

Willie Green, a Suns assistant, is appointed head coach of the Pelicans.

PORTLAND, ORLEANS Willie Green, an assistant for the Phoenix Suns, has been named head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans.

After working as an NBA assistant coach for the previous five years, first with Golden State and then with Phoenix, which lost to Milwaukee in the NBA Finals on Tuesday, Green, a former player in the NBA who turns 40 on July 28, is taking on a new role as head coach.

In order to give rising star Zion Williamson hope that he can find long-term fulfillment with the team that drafted him first overall two years ago, he comes to New Orleans at a critical juncture.

“Willie has made a name for himself in the NBA as one of the most reputable assistant coaches. “A strong work ethic and genuine character are largely to blame for this,” stated David Griffin, executive vice president of basketball operations, on Thursday. As a coach and former player, he brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and experience to our team. He also possesses great leadership qualities and a natural ability to connect with players, staff, and fans.

Green played for the Warriors in both 2017 and 2018, when they won two NBA titles. He relocated to Phoenix two seasons ago in order to work with Monte Williams, who was also New Orleans’ head coach during Green’s 2010–11 campaign, when the guard Chris Paul led the team to the postseason.

Green is largely recognized for creating the defensive scheme used by the Suns. Phoenix’s defensive rating, or points allowed per 100 possessions, was the sixth-best in the NBA, while New Orleans’ high-scoring defense, ranked 23rd, kept them out of the playoffs.

“To have this chance in a unique location like New Orleans is a blessing and an honor. “I am excited to start work and fully integrate my family and I into the local community,” stated Green.

In addition to his highly regarded understanding of on-court strategy, Green seems to be respected by NBA players. As a combo guard, he played for Philadelphia, New Orleans, Atlanta, the Los Angeles Clippers, and Orlando during his 12-year playing career.

Griffin has previously employed a rookie coach with the hope of seeing rapid success. Griffin was Cleveland’s vice president of basketball operations in 2016 when he gave Tyronn Lue his first head coaching job. The Cavaliers, with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving leading the club on the court, won the NBA championship that season.
