Alabama moves to unseat four-star quarterback commit from SMU
The Alabama Crimson Tide typically acquire recruits they desire.
That was undoubtedly the case under Nick Saban, and it has already been demonstrated that Kalen DeBoer, the new head coach of Alabama, has had great success in recruiting.
Therefore, it will be beneficial to monitor the recruitment of Duncanville, Texas’s four-star quarterback Keelon Russell.
Although Russell has been devoted to the SMU Mustangs since September 2023, he may be reconsidering his decision in light of DeBoer and the Crimson Tide’s recent offer.
On social media, he appeared to be ecstatic about the proposal.
It is also important to note that, despite his long-standing commitment to SMU, Russell recently told On3 that he is open to offers from any team.
“As of right now, SMU holds a very high regard for me, but I am still very much available. I am still visiting colleges and chatting with other coaches,” he declared.
Russell is scheduled to see the Florida Gators and Ole Miss Rebels in addition to an official visit to SMU.
By the end of it all, it is not impossible to think that the Tide may also receive an official visit.
Russell is ranked as the nation’s seventh-best quarterback recruit for 2025 by 247Sports. After throwing for 3,483 yards with 38 touchdowns and just three interceptions in 2023, he assisted his high school in winning back-to-back Texas 6A D-1 state championships.
