SAD NEWS: Ty Simpson receives “time that he needs” from the Alabama crimson tide to recuperate from illness.

Ty Simpson’s father, Jason, announced on Wednesday night that his son will be playing in Alabama again next season. Simpson, a rising redshirt sophomore, supported quarterback Jalen Milroe during the previous campaign. Milroe declared last month that he would be playing his redshirt junior season at Alabama.

According to Jason, who spoke with TideIllustrated, “Ty made his decision, and his heart has always been at Alabama. He will be returning next year.”

Simpson made six appearances in the previous season and completed 11 of 20 passes for 179 yards in addition to running for 86 yards and two touchdowns. His longest playing stint occurred in the victory over South Florida in Week 3, when he took Tyler Buchner’s starting position and helped Alabama win 17-3. Against the Bulls, Simpson completed 5 of 9 passes for 73 yards and added a 1-yard touchdown run.

Prior to last week’s Rose Bowl, Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees said of Simpson, “I think you just see the reps he is had and the opportunity he is had in games, his ability to stay calm out there and make good decisions and good throws.” “As of right now, we have complete faith in him as the 2. He finds it difficult to maintain mental preparedness every single week. He is done an extremely good job, in my opinion. He is made plays when given the chance to play.”
