For the first time, the men’s golf team from Tennessee was ranked as the top NCAA regional seed.
The Vols were chosen as the number one seed for the Texas-hosted Austin Regional. Golf Channel revealed on Wednesday that Tennessee was the top seed.
Since the NCAA modified the format to six regions in 2010, the Vols’ postseason ranking is the highest since that time.
From May 13–15, the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas, will host the Austin Regional. Bechtol Russell Golf Design built the championship 7,412-yard, par-71 golf course.
Ten teams—Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, UNC Greensboro, BYU, Utah, San Jose State, Grand Canyon, Arkansas State, and Kansas City—as well as Tennessee are part of the Austin Regional.
