Aaron Boone provides a vague injury update to Gerrit Cole of the Yankees.
Aaron Boone, manager of the Yankees, provides the most recent news regarding Gerrit Cole.
The New York Yankees’ star player, Gerrit Cole, is eligible to return from the disabled list in late May. Nonetheless, American League Cy Young winner Aaron Boone of the Yankees recently refrained from speculating on the player’s projected injury return date.
“I do not have that, but I am sure it is soon,” Boone stated, according to nydailynews.com. “I would be hesitant to make a guess on that. Everyone, including the trainers, is sort of working through that. So let us see.”
Cole, who has an elbow problem, previously got the following update from FOX Sports’ MLB insider Ken Rosenthal:
Rosenthal stated on Monday, “He is been throwing off flat-ground and the expectation is that he will get off a mound sometime in the next week.” Remember that he will not be able to leave the injured list until May 27th, and it is unlikely that he will be well enough by then. He might need a little extra time. Pitchers usually have a six-week build-up during spring training. And before the full six weeks are up, at that.
“The Yankees’ current winning streak is good news. Not that they would anyway, but they are doing a great job without Cole, so there is no need for them to push this. All they have to do is wait until he is prepared.”
Cole’s quick return would be greatly appreciated by Yankees supporters. But as Rosenthal pointed out, there is no need to play the ace quickly. The main objective for New York is to get Cole back for the final stretch of the season. There is currently no rush, but he will most likely return before then.
Despite Gerrit Cole’s injury absence, the Yankees win.
The Yankees are battling with the Baltimore Orioles for the top spot in the American League East. There was realistic uncertainty for 2024 once Cole went down with his injury. Still, despite the circumstances, New York has impressed.
