Superstar Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young is still healing from surgery to replace his torn fifth finger radial collateral ligament. On February 27, he had surgery to treat the injury. It seems he is finally getting close to making a return. Earlier this week, he was reassessed.
The Hawks observe that Young is making steady progress. He plans to “introduce small finger motion exercises” back into his repertoire this coming week.
The 6’1″ Oklahoma product, 25, is averaging 26.4 points on.426/.371/.856 shooting splits, 10.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in the 51 games he has been healthy enough to play in this season. Despite having an inconsistent season both with and without Young on the court, the Hawks are still in the thick of things as the regular season draws to a close.
Since Young’s injury, the Hawks have played 15 games to completion, going 8-7. With Young out, Dejounte Murray, a member of Young’s backcourt, has assumed a more playmaking role, with generally positive outcomes. The Hawks’ most recent—and, to be honest, most amazing—victory occurred on Monday night when they defeated the top-seeded Boston Celtics of the Eastern Conference, 120-118, after coming back from a 30-point deficit.
