The New Orleans Saints have made a move to bolster their pass rush by agreeing to sign veteran Jason Pierre-Paul to their practice squad, as confirmed by a team representative.

Pierre-Paul, aged 34, hasn’t seen game time this season but was active for 14 games with the Baltimore Ravens last year, registering three sacks. Despite rumors of retirement, he’s showcased his readiness through a workout video on Instagram, asserting he still has plenty left in his tank.

This signing comes as the Saints seek to address their pass rush issues, ranking 26th in the NFL with only 18 sacks. Prior to Pierre-Paul, they added Jordan Willis to the practice squad.

Their current defensive ends have amassed a combined total of just 7 sacks, with top draft pick Isaiah Foskey sidelined due to injury.

While Carl Granderson leads the Saints with 5.5 sacks, his production has dipped recently, and veteran Cameron Jordan, aged 34, has contributed only two sacks.

Pierre-Paul, a former first-round pick for the New York Giants in 2010, brings significant experience, having earned three Pro Bowl selections.

He last made the Pro Bowl in 2020 while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, accumulating a career total of 94.5 sacks, including 5.5 over the past two seasons with the Ravens and Buccaneers.
