Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain has been involved in contract negotiations with the team this offseason.
In fact, Surtain has been the focus of trade rumors all offseason long because the two sides are still unable to agree on a new contract.
What’s the current status between Patrick Surtain and the Denver Broncos?
On the other hand, Surtain revealed the status of his contract negotiations with the Broncos as the team nears the conclusion of its optional offseason program. According to Denver Post reporter Ryan McFadden, Surtain stated, “That time will come.” “My goal is to improve as a player as much as possible.”
After recording a career-high 69 total tackles with an interception in the previous season, Surtain is only beginning his prime as one of the best cornerbacks in the game.
Pro Football Focus notes that Surtain had an outstanding 2023 season, limiting opponent quarterbacks to a passing rating of just 93.9 when they targeted him. Receivers also averaged less than 13 yards per reception against him.
The Broncos could be smart to find a way to close a deal as soon as possible, since cornerback is still a position of high demand and Surtain is among the best players at it.
