Before Friday’s practice, head coach Jerod Mayo announced that safety Jabrill Peppers has signed a contract extension with the New England Patriots.

Peppers, 28, is about to begin his third season with the Patriots. He had 78 tackles in 15 games and tallied two interceptions the previous season.

Mayo remarked, “I am really happy for Peppers and his family, as well as for our team and the organization.” He truly is the embodiment of what we desire on the pitch; he is incredibly giving. It’s excellent to close the transaction because he’s always flying about.

After spending two seasons with the Browns after being selected by Cleveland in the 2017 draft, Peppers played for the New York Giants for three seasons between 2019 and 2020.

“Every day, he brings that energy and his passion.” Along with Dug (fellow safety Kyle Dugger), he’s one of our finest communicators on defense, Mayo said. “Overall, I’m really pleased with that safety room.”

In ahead of the 2024 campaign, Peppers is the most recent Patriot to either sign a new contract or have one extended. Edge rusher Matthew Judon and defensive tackle Davon Godchaux, two New England players in the latter years of their contracts, want to be taken care of.

“I’ll let my agent Drew Rosenhous handle it; it’s frustrating.” Following practice on Friday, Godchaux remarked, “He’s been doing it for a long time.” Naturally, you want to get paid, but they are deserving of it. I promise never to harbor jealousy toward my teammates.
