Three unlikely contenders who might eventually start for the Bulls
The Chicago Bulls have a lot of unanswered concerns following a perplexing offseason that left them unsure of their course.
While it would be beneficial to trade Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls are content with their current lineup, even though the outcome may be another squad that is just outside of the postseason picture.
There is a predicted starting lineup that makes sense but is by no means final, assuming LaVine and Vucevic are healthy:
-Giddey, Josh
-Coby White
-Zach LaVine
—Patrick Williams
-Vucevic Nikola
This might be changed by a number of things, such as trades, guys off the bench doing better than starters, or Billy Donovan switching up his lineup to get players with various skill sets on the court.
These three athletes will be vying for slots in the starting lineup and have a chance to win them.
Matas Buzelis
Is it really appropriate to have Patrick Williams in the starting five? It makes sense because he signed the large contract this summer, but he hasn’t done anything to merit it and is recovering from an injury.
Another factor is that Buzelis appears to be a player they will be developing around after his strong performance in Summer League. Buzelis might force his way into the starting lineup very quickly if the Bulls want to build that future right now because he has already proven he can block shots and be an offensive matchup nightmare.
At this juncture in their careers, Buzelis is more creative with the ball in his hands and has a more dynamic offensive game than Williams, who is a stronger 3-point shooter.
Buzelis is self-assured and won’t settle for being an auxiliary player in his debut campaign, so this training camp competition will be one of the finest to watch.
