Breaking: Top Talented 4-Star Player Who Reject Steelers And Kansas City Chiefs Finally Commits To Detroit Lions Today

Football at Michigan State ended Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 2017 recruiting class in Michigan
Given that the majority of Michigan State football fans are also Detroit Lions supporters—I know this is a blog about MSU athletics, but I felt compelled to post this entertaining anecdote. Trust me, there’s a Spartan link here.

Amon-Ra St. Brown is the top wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, as every Lions fan knows. For those of you who aren’t, let me explain. St. Brown, who was selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft from USC, emerged as one of the offense’s key players and as Detroit’s best receiver.

We Michigan State fans didn’t really get to know him until he joined the Lions, even though he attended USC, but that almost wasn’t the case. St. Brown recently revealed that, when still in high school, he was really interested in attending Michigan.

He was an absolute beast in the NFL and at USC, so that would have been disastrous. But happily, after watching the Spartans defeat Michigan on an official visit, Michigan State really put a stop to his desire to play at Michigan.

St. Brown reveals in the video above that he attended the 2017 MSU vs. Michigan game in Ann Arbor while on an official visit to Michigan. We all remember that game, in which the top-ranked Spartans pulled off a stunning upset against the Wolverines, 14–10, during a rainstorm.

St. Brown says that after seeing the Wolverines lose this game, he was completely done with the idea of attending Michigan.
