Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team. As a part of the National Football Conference (NFC) South division, they play in the National Football League (NFL). Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte serves as both the team’s home field and its hub of operations.

After a portion of Delta Flight 8860 slid off the runway and became stuck in the mud, all of the passengers safely exited the aircraft using an emergency exit, according to press sources and Instagram posts.

The Carolina Panthers spokesman confirmed that the Delta Air Lines aircraft was scheduled as a charter for the purpose of transporting the team members and personnel. Representatives from the airport and the team reaffirmed that no injuries were reported in the collision.

The bus ride back to Wilson Air Center, which serves as a terminal for many chartered or private flights, took about an hour after the passengers disembarked from the plane.

Once the passengers and crew had been helped by airport emergency crews, Delta was able to successfully pull the aircraft off the runway.

The airport spokesman stated that the damaged section was repaired and that the taxiway was reopened at around 6:30 am. The representative with Charlotte Douglas International Airport also mentioned that the taxiway and airport lighting were operating as intended.

“After a typical arrival, Delta 8860’s right main gear departed the taxiway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The 188 passengers who are getting off the plane and being driven to the terminal have not reported any injuries. In a press release sent in the middle of the morning, Delta Air Lines said, “We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”
