José Tena’s walk-off single in his debut for Washington Nationals lifts the Nationals to a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels in 10 innings
The same day he was brought up from the minor leagues, José Tena produced a game-winning RBI single in the 10th inning, which helped the Washington Nationals defeat the Los Angeles Angels 5-4 on Saturday night. They had won two straight walk-off games going into this one.
After dropping to a season-low 12 games below.500 on Thursday, Washington has won two straight games thanks to a home run by James Wood and a multi-hit performance by Alex Call.
The Nationals won their third walk-off game and their 31st come-from-behind victory of the season thanks to Tena’s second RBI single of the evening.
“I informed him that he wouldn’t bunt,” stated Dave Martinez, the manager of Washington. “Please drive this run in and attempt to stay in the middle of the field,” I said. He also operated it. He swings really well.
The Angels had three hits in a game, including Zach Neto’s 17th home run of the year.
In the bottom of the 10th inning, Roansy Contreras (2-2) fired a wild pitch, moving CJ Abrams, pinch running for catcher Keibert Ruiz, to third base.
After being dealt from Cleveland to the Nationals last month in exchange for Lane Thomas, Tena was making his Nationals debut when he knocked the following pitch off the wall in left center to seal the victory.
