I Will Leave For Him To Play” Washington Nationals Top Star Confirm He Will Leave

Anthony Rendon of the Angels Considers Going Back to Nationals Park
Rendon went back to his first squad.
For the first time since he parted ways with the Washington Nationals organization in December 2019, Anthony Rendon visited Nationals Park. The Nationals selected the Los Angeles Angels third baseman with the sixth overall choice in the 2011 MLB Draft.

After making his Major League Baseball debut in 2013, Rendon emerged as one of the team’s most exciting prospects. Rendon enjoyed his greatest season with the Nationals in 2019, finishing as an All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger, RBI leader, and member of the Nationals’ 2019 World Series winning squad during his stint in Washington.

That season, he had 174 hits, 117 runs, 34 home runs, and an MLB-high 126 RBIs while slashing.319/.412/.598. Additionally, Rendon did not participate in more than 60 games in a season until that one.

Following the 2019 season, Rendon left the Nationals and signed a seven-year, $245 million contract with the Angels.

After almost five seasons, Rendon was able to play in the stadium where his career started. Because the Nationals and Angels play in different leagues, they don’t play each other very often, which contributed to the length of time it took Rendon to get back.

Regarding his homecoming, Rendon declared, “I finally made it back,” according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register.

The three-game series between the Nationals and the Angels ended on Sunday with the Angels losing all three games. The Angels dropped their opening two games, 3-2 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday, both by a single score. They triumphed 6-4 on Sunday as a comeback.

Rendon had five hits in ten at-bats against his old team, but he did not record any runs or RBIs. After spending two distinct periods on the disabled list, Rendon just made his way back to the Angels. Rendon was on the IL for a short while due to lower back irritation after missing many months due to a hamstring ailment.
