Tottenham Hotspur ready to pip Real Betis to Vitor Roque
Tottenham Hotspur had been heavily linked with Brazilian prodigy Vitor Roque before he eventually joined La Liga giants Barcelona. His time with the Catalans has been far from ideal and having fallen out of favour under Xavi very early on following his transfer, the player has been loaned out to Real Betis after failing to find a spot in Hansi Flick’s plans either.
Having said that, he has done a decent job with the Andalusian side and with four goals as well as two assists to his name, there is optimism that Roque is starting to find his feet. Real Betis also have the option to sign him permanently after his loan spell comes to an end although it remains to be seen if they are keen on exercising it.
Tottenham Hotspur are willing to compete with Real Betis for Vitor Roque’s signing. While the 19-year-old has a sky-high potential and has been endorsed a number of times by the Barcelona board, he could be sold sooner rather than later with the Blaugrana struggling financially and consequently, facing a race against time to register Dani Olmo for the second half of the ongoing campaign.Roque joined Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense for a transfer fee close to £50 million but following his slow start to life in Spain, it is expected for his valuation to be significantly lower than the amount he joined the 5-time Champions League winners for at the start of this year. Tottenham have maintained a relationship with the player’s entourage, which could help them in future negotiations.
