Good Morning Britain’s Laura Tobin overslept after boozy night out and missed TV slot.
GOOD Morning Britain weather presenter Laura Tobin says she overslept after a boozy night out and missed her TV slot.
The 42-year-old had passed out fully clothed on her hotel bed and so did not set an alarm.
It came after her team of ITV colleagues won the 2022 Ultimate News Quiz, competing in aid of Action for Children.
She told the Monday Mile podcast: “We won, drank loads, I woke up. I had my phone on silent.
“My boss was trying to phone my phone.
“In the end they eventually got through to the taxi driver who went inside and asked them to call up to me.
“I answered the phone with a swear word.
“I turned up at GMB at half past six. I had to as I had the trophy.”
Laura said newsreader Charlotte Hawkins, 48, had already read her first weather cast.
Laura Tobin, the weather presenter for Good Morning Britain, found herself in an unusual situation after enjoying a lively night out.
Following a celebratory evening that involved heavy drinking, she unintentionally overslept and missed her scheduled TV appearance.
Reflecting on the incident, Laura explained that her phone had been on silent, which contributed to the mishap.
The night before, Laura had been out celebrating, presumably with friends or colleagues, and admitted to consuming a considerable amount of alcohol during the festivities.
She described the evening as a joyful one, saying, “We won, drank loads, I woke up,” hinting at a successful or memorable event that prompted the celebrations.
However, the revelry took its toll, as the combination of a late night and her phone being muted led to her failing to wake up on time.
Missing her slot on the morning show, which typically requires early preparation and a strict schedule, was a rare and perhaps embarrassing occurrence for the otherwise professional presenter.
While oversleeping may happen to anyone, it is particularly noticeable in the world of live television, where punctuality is paramount.
The incident highlights the challenges of maintaining a work-life balance, especially for those in high-pressure roles like live broadcasting.
Laura’s candid admission about her night out and the circumstances that led to her tardiness offers a glimpse into her human side, making her relatable to viewers who may have experienced similar slip-ups.
Though missing her TV appearance was undoubtedly inconvenient, it serves as a lighthearted reminder that even seasoned professionals can have the occasional lapse.
It also underscores the importance of ensuring alarms are set and phones are audible when critical commitments are on the line.
