Fenerbahce, Newcastle United could be set to sell some players over the coming days and weeks.
While Newcastle fans may not be gearing up to see any new arrivals during the January transfer window, it doesn’t mean business won’t be conducted.
Newcastle are not guaranteed to sign a player in January but could be set to sanction some exits.
Miguel Almiron is set to leave Newcastle and re-join former club Atlanta United, while another could soon follow.
Indeed, one of Newcastle’s summer signings has increasingly been linked with a somewhat surprising move away only months after joining.
Lloyd Kelly is a target for Fenerbahce, with Newcastle having rejected an offer for the defender.
Now, it seems that more big clubs could come in for the former Bournemouth man.
It is claimed that Newcastle are looking for around £15-16million for the 26-year-old, who has only made 13 appearances for the Magpies across all competitions.
Interestingly, Eddie Howe only recently confirmed Newcastle want to keep Kelly despite his lack of regular game time, describing him as an “important” part of his plans when speaking on Friday.
Earlier this week, it was claimed Newcastle are looking for around £16million for Kelly, so anything north of that would surely have to be seen as a big bonus.
If they can force Juve’s hand a bit, selling seems wise.
Newcastle are not guaranteed to sign anyone this month, with the lack of PSR wiggle-room so tight that the club may not bring in a replacement for Miguel Almiron, who is expected to return to former club Atlanta United.
With that in mind, it could lead to targets going to other clubs.
Chelsea beat Newcastle to the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo in the summer and it seems they could do something similar again.
