PECHANGA INDIAN RESERVATION – The Pechanga Tribe of Southern California announced today a $500,000.00 commitment to help Los Angeles fire victims affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires. Pechanga will join the Los Angeles Rams Foundation in donating a total of $250,000 to three organizations working around the clock to assist Los Angeles during this devastating time: the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation, and the World Central Kitchen. In addition, Pechanga will donate an additional $250,000 to the American Red Cross.
From ancient times to now, Southern California has always been and will always be our home,” said Mark Macarro, Pechanga Tribal Chairman. “The loss and devastation that continues to take its toll on our region from these catastrophic fires is heartbreaking. Our reservation has been impacted by fires in the past, and we know the importance of coming together to lift up people in need.”
In addition to Pechanga’s monetary contribution, the Pechanga Fire Department has had personnel, equipment and resources deployed to the Eaton and Palisades Fires, as well as their logistical command centers, since Tuesday, January 7. The Pechanga Resort Casino has also been offering discounts to residents without power due to sustained high winds and those impacted by the Los Angeles fires.
Pechanga has been there for the community after wildfires devastated houses and land near the reservation. Similarly, the community rallied around Pechanga many years ago after a fast-moving fire ripped through the reserve.
More than 200 American Red Cross workers are presently supporting hundreds of Southern California residents who have been displaced by catastrophic wildfires. Residents affected by the fires are given safe shelter, food, assistance in locating loved ones, and other crucial services from the American Red Cross.
For more than seven years, the Los Angeles Rams have been a reliable and loyal partner of Pechanga. The Los Angeles Rams Foundation is establishing avenues for fire victims to get additional assistance and financing through its dedicated community teams. The Rams Foundation is working with a number of organizations to provide comfort and immediate aid to people affected by the tragedy.
