Blockbuster News: UW Huskies Lock Down Nation’s Top 5-Star Sensation!

Former Penn State wide receiver Omari Evans is joining the University of Washington Huskies, according to On3 reporter Hayes Fawcett’s social media post Wednesday night.

Evans then shared the post with the message, “Hei5man Run.”

Evans had 21 receptions for 415 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games this season, helping Penn State reach to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. The 6-foot, 190-pound rising senior was third on the Nittany Lions in receiving yards, after star tight end Tyler Warren (1,233 yards) and leading wideout Harrison Wallace III (720 yards).

Evans had little opportunity in Penn State’s offense, which was structured around a certain first-round NFL draft pick in Warren and a dynamic rushing attack.

According to Pro Football Focus, Evans had 38 targets, ranking fourth on the team behind Warren (135), Wallace (77), and running back Nicholas Singleton (52).

Evans was mostly used as a deep threat, averaging a team-high 19.8 yards per reception. He had a 45-yard touchdown reception in a narrow victory over Minnesota, a 22-yard scoring grab in the Big Ten championship game against Oregon, and a 38-yard touchdown catch in a Fiesta Bowl victory against Boise State.

Evans has one year of eligibility remaining. He played sparingly for Penn State in 2022 and 2023 after being scouted as a three-star high school talent in Killeen, Texas.

Evans joins a UW squad that is losing two of its top three wideouts, Giles Jackson and Jeremiah Hunter, who have both exhausted their eligibility. The Huskies have also lost former five-star prospect Johntay Cook II, who abruptly quit the team after transferring from Texas earlier this winter, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Denzel Boston, a great receiver who had 63 receptions for 834 yards and nine touchdowns in his sophomore season last fall, is set to return to Washington. Rashid Williams, a former four-star prospect, is among the Huskies’ returning wide receivers. He had 11 receptions for 138 yards and one score as a freshman.
